| Position Requirement: |
The Software Engineer is responsible for maintaining all internal and external system code, including internal tools used by technical support and other staff, web and DNS related code used by the customers, updates and new services, or other changes to the NIC.MO systems. The NIC.MO team is a new and growing startup. A successful Software Engineer may have the opportunity to expand its role into management and will have opportunities to attend and present at international conferences relevant to the .MO operations, including interaction with outside standards and industry groups, including but not limited to ICANN, IANA, the IETF, and IDN groups.
Duties:
• Maintain and develop features, services and other aspects of the NIC.MO system
• Participate in new product and service development team(s)
• Support servers and technical operations of the .MO system
• Support office network, file/print servers and desktops
• Support the formulation of IT planning and budget
• Maintain relationship with and provide training to government, local community and international Internet community
• Support team in general and especially on technical aspects
Skills / Requirements:
• Proven experience building systems and applications in the Internet industry
• Software development / project management skills
• Programming Languages (e.g. C/C++, PHP, SQL, Shell Scripting (bash, csh, etc), HTML/XHTML, CSS, Javascript, XML, DOM, Ajax. Pearl, Ruby, etc.).
• Knowledge of system tools / services (e.g. Apache, BIND, Postfix, Cyrus IMAP, OpenLDAP, mySQL, Apache, Samba, DHCP)
• Knowledge of clustering and high availability concepts.
• Experience with open source technologies and Linux platforms
• Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle process and network architecture
• Basic knowledge of PABX and VOIP systems preferred
• Hands-on knowledge of Internet, Security and telecommunication / networking concepts
• Excellent communication skills and good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese)
