Key Responsibilities:
- During rehearsal, supervise the Sound Crew in the development of the show and the department.
- Manage and oversee sound operations.
- Forecast the yearly department budgets and capital expenditures in conjunction with the Technical Director.
- Capable of operating all SVC tracks during rehearsals and performances.
- Ensure that all SVC systems are functioning smoothly.
- Collaborate with the Sound Designer, to ensure the sound concept is respected.
- Apply corrective measures as required by the Sound Designer.
- Ensure all SVC systems operate safely.
- Ensure the sound team and technical personnel respect standards and regulations regarding the safety of sound equipment, and apply safe work methods.
- Train and supervise sound technicians.
- Develop and update training programs to ensure continuity of sound operations during performance runs.
- Inspect and maintain sound equipment, and keep records of inspections and alterations.
- Keep audio archives, stock lists and technical documentation up to date.
- Seek out, order or purchase new or replacement SVC equipment.
- Ensure the sound equipment is correctly installed and is consistent with the sound design.
- Support the Technical Director by taking part in the process of hiring new technicians, managing team budgets and projecting capital expenditures.
- Use the tools and procedures provided to control inventory and equipment data.
- Work with the Artistic team regarding changes, development and evolution of the show.
- Collaborate with the Technical and Artistic Director for external events.
- Maintain the Sound Design IP to the highest standard.
- Maintain a positive working atmosphere within the Sound department.
- Carry out all other related tasks assigned by the Technical Director.
Key Requirments:
- College diploma (or equivalent) in live entertainment, theatre production, sound technology or electronics (or equivalent work experience).
- 6+ experience as a Sound Engineer working in live professional performance.
- Strong technical knowledge of digital & analogue sound equipment.
- Good general understanding of all technical aspects of a show.
- Personnel management experience and the ability to work with a small team.
- Flexibility, autonomy, team player.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to handle contingencies and work well under pressure.
- Advanced Ableton programming and operational advance user skills.
- Ability to read music scores.
- Experience using a CMMS or any other work order based preventive maintenance database system.
- MS Office Systems profound.
- Fluency in English is essential.
