1. Roles and Responsibilities :
Responsible / Accountable
• Attend Wardrobe meetings and other tasks as assigned by Supervisor.
• Inform the Lead Technician of weekly fitting requests.
• Respect and adhere to deadlines.
• Assist with performer costume fittings.
• Assist with costume construction and techniques such as, dying and painting on accessories, headpieces, footwear, and costumes as required.
• Work on the maintenance and repairs of costumes and accessories; including headpieces, footwear, and masks.
• During all operations, assist in laundry and maintenance, including the development of repairs and cleaning procedures.
• To respect the artistic integrity of the costume designs and the “look” on a long term show.
• Communicate all costume notes, alterations and artist requirements to the Lead Costume Technician and required personnel.
• Responsible for communicating, documenting, and record keeping of all pattern notes, modifications, costume inventories including style and size information to the Lead Technician.
• Adhere to and enforce safety policies and participate in all required Health & Safety Classes.
Support
• Support all Wardrobe Rules and Artist Policies report any issues to working Supervisor.
• Support the training of new staff and uphold the standards of other team members.
• Assist with the integration of new costume items into the production.
• Support and assist with organization of all wardrobe/costume related items for the cast change over and the integration of all new performers.
• Work with the Head of Wardrobe to respect and maintain creation and artistic changes, development and evolution of the show.
• Assist with promotional events and photo shoots as needed.
Consulted
• Be respectful of coordination with other Departments, Artistic Management, Stage Management, and Technical Direction, for the scheduling and running of performances and rehearsals.
• Within the entire Artistic and Technical team, respect safety programs.
Informed
• Help maintain and update all wardrobe records.
• Help with the ordering and tracking of the department’s consumables and equipment.
• Informed by the Wardrobe Attendants of any specific requirements for the performers.
Objectives:
• Assist with performer costume fittings and the maintenance and repair of costumes and accessories.
Report and record all costumes changes and alterations.
• Work collaboratively in a team environment to maintain the integrity of the show.
2. Qualifications :
Education
• College or technical diploma in related field.
Experience
• 3-5 Years experience in a position in a theatrical wardrobe.
• Extensive knowledge of costume construction methods, care, and maintenance.
Other Skills
• Must be fully experienced and proficient in the use and maintenance of all technical wardrobe machinery and equipment
• Required to have a strong background in practical techniques, machine and hand sewing skills to manage the maintenance of the show.
• Have knowledge and experience in pattern cutting and manipulation, fittings, alterations, and building techniques
• Fluent in English (Written, Spoken) is required;
• Fluent in Cantonese or French is a plus.
