Summary

Manages and co-ordinates projects for busy engineering consulting company

Type of Tenure

The Project Engineer will be engaged on a permanent status after a 3 month probationary period.

Hours

The hours of work are to be generally 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. Monday through to Friday.

These hours may be adjusted through mutual consent.

From time to time, additional hours of work may be required of the Project Engineer, however these will be by mutual agreement of the Project Engineer and the Director

Macau statutory public holidays are non-workdays.

Annual leave allowance as per Macau employment laws. Annual leave to be taken at mutually agreed time.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Be responsible for the management and coordination of projects.
  • Assist other consultants and other staff to manage and perform works on projects according to client requirements during an initial inception phase, design implementation phase, commissioning and testing phases.
  • Assist consultants and other staff to be responsible for the total delivery of assignments including the development and management of project plans and budgets, business risk plans and design documentation.
  • Actively assist consultants and other staff in developing strong client relationships to foster new and repeat business opportunities.
  • Be responsible for conducting duties for various clients.  This work will also include liaison with contractors, management and operation of in-house computer, preparations of reports and other associated duties.
  • Assist consultants and staff to prepare project plans including concept design solutions, Scope definition, required tasks, programme of responsibility, and associated budgets.
  • Assist consultants and staff to prepare request for quotation, scope of works, and consultant’s agreement documentation for specialist and secondary consultants.
  • Assist consultants and managers to prepare all contract documentation in accordance with the requirement of the particular client or projects
  • Provide administration of project files and quality system.
  • Track and manage project expenditure against budgets and provide updates to cash flow forecasts as required.
  • Assist in the maintenance of a master project programme and report on the actual progress of individual projects against the master program.
  • Assist consultants and staff to prepare periodical project status reports as required.
  • Assist consultants and staff in the preparation of letters, proposals, emails, facsimiles, presentation material, reports and other media for issue to clients and contractors.
  • Assist in the telephone attendance to clients and contractors.
  • Assist Director to monitor job costs/man our expenditure to ensure costs/man our expenditure does not exceed those estimated on a project by project basis.
  • Following monthly invoicing consistent with cash flow projections and dependent upon project timetable adjustments, adjust the cash flow/man our projections on a monthly basis.
  • Assist in marketing the services of the company in seeking out prospective new clients and commissions in the fields of interest of the company.
  • Maintain all job files and manage projects in accordance with QA process.

Education and/or Experience                                         

Appropriate qualification related to job description.

Language Skills                                         

Ability to speak, read and write English and Chinese. Similar Portuguese abilities are desirable but not essential. Be able to interpret documents such as reports, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write simple routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before small groups of customers or employees of organization.

The successful candidate will be required to work both in our Macau office as well as to visit the various properties that we provide professional services to.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet and email software; Word and Excel Spreadsheet software, basic CAD software skills, Project Management software.

Employee Training

If deemed necessary, training for this position will be provided both within the company and at the discretion of the Director, at an external training organisation. It is anticipated that the in-house training will be conducted during working hours unless by mutual agreement. It is expected any required external training will take place on the employees own time however the company agrees to fund this external training provided that the external training course is agreed between the company and the employee.

In house training will include basic instruction in the following:

It is expected that the Project Engineer will present in neat casual attire suitable for a professional office environment.
