     Company Profile

The Porsche Design Group was in 1972 by Professor Ferdinand A. Porsche who was also the designer of the famed Porsche 911 sports car. Currently, Porsche Design is 65% owned by Porsche A.G. car group and 35% owned by the Porsche family. The Porsche Design brand has always been driven by engineering and design excellence alongside the Porsche sports car brand with a special linkage to the 911 model. All lifestyle consumer products and architectural and industrial design work from the Porsche Design Group carry the same unchanging design and engineering philosophy of the 911.

Porsche Design is a design company with two businesses: (a) Industrial and architectural design service from ski-lift, to boats and yachts, to buildings and furniture; and (b) Design and production of consumer lifestyle products such as sportswear, fashion, luggage, accessories, eyewear, timepieces, mobile phones, and Audio products. Porsche Design has partnered with some of the world’s top production lifestyle brand partners such as Rimowa, KEF, and Adidas. Currently, there are 170 mono-brand points of sale worldwide which comprises a mix of direct owned stores and franchisee stores. 17 are in Asia and 1 in Greater China.

Here in Asia, Hong Kong and China are now the largest markets in the world for Porsche cars. In April, 2017, a Porsche Experience Center is due to open in Shanghai. The Porsche brand therefore already is enjoying high awareness and affinity in the region and is expected to gain further prominence in the coming years. It is against this backdrop that Fung Fashion has entered into a partnership with Porsche Design as Fung Fashion believes that the Asia market is under-served in this market segment and the Porsche Design brand is also under-marketed and represented. As such, the market opportunity is significant for Porsche Design’s products.

In addition to a retail business (an existing store in Hong Kong’s Ocean Terminal, Venetian Hotel in Macau, and a minimum 3 more to open in Hong Kong and China in first half of 2018), there is also tremendous potential for its wholesale business in the region.
